Description of attitude

Why do employers value this attitude

Hard working

Able to give your best work at all times.

Because it shows that you will give your best and that you will work hard for the job you are doing and also that you will be getting the company money.

Independent

Able to work on your own as an individual and get on with it.

Because it shows that an individual can work without constant supervision and can work on their own.

Determined

The ability to keep going at what you are doing with a passion.

Because it shows that the individual can keep at the work the he/she is given no matter what.

Tolerant

To be able to work with other people and be ‘tolerant’ or be able to handle working with them even if there are differences.

Because it means you can work with a wide variety of people and people who might annoy you.

Leadership

The ability to be able to be in charge of a situation and work over a team of people.

Because it means you can take charge and can be left in charge of a certain sector of work.

Dependable

To be trusted to get things done.

Because it means you can be trusted to do things in your work and that you wont let people down.

Confident

The ability to know that you are good at what you do and to know how to use what you know.

Because it comes with a positive attitude and shows that you know what you do and how to do it.

Problem solving

The ability to be able to sort problems out and make sense of a bad or tricky situation.

Because it can be a good ability to have when problems are faced. It allows you to be able to sort problems of any sort.

The ability to prepare in advance.

Because it means that the person who has this skill can prepare for things in advance and therefore are reliable.

Organisational skills

The ability to organise and be able to ready in an orderly fashion.

Because it shows that an individual isn’t messy and is orderly in how they work.

Time management

Being able to manage your time.

Because it shows that you can work according to deadlines by managing your time apropriatley.

 

Verbal skills

Being able to communicate clearly through talking.

Because it shows that you can work with other people and get things across easily.

Written skills

Being able to communicate the right message through writing/text.

Because it means that people reading your writing can understand what you are putting across to them.

Numeracy

Being able to work with numbers effectively.

Because it can be valued for someone with the role of figuring out statistics and other math related jobs.

Creativity

The ability to think outside the box and to come up with new ideas.

Because it can mean new things for a business and different ideas can potentially make the business better.

Knowing about machines and being able to work them.

Because this can be good for repairing machines and working on them.

Health and safety

Being aware of health and safety, and the issues surrounding them on machines.

Because it shows a person’s understanding of health and safety and also that they provide the skills to apply their knowlage.

Security

The ability to be able to secure passwords and security codes on machines like computers. (Pc’s, printers, photocopyers, etc…)

Because it means all of the work and data on computers can be secure and be safe from hackers or people who might try to get onto databases.

Keeping up to date with technology

To know what all of the latest equipment is.

Because it means that all of the equipment that a workplace uses is up-to-date.
